I had a friend suggest to me today that I get out of the 'other' side of the bed tomorrow morning. She said that I must've gotten out of the unlucky side today. I agree. I've had better mornings. This morning I have:
* Cleaned up cat puke 4 times
* Cleaned up canned cat food off the kitchen floor after the cat knocked his dish down there
* Mopped the kitchen floor, due to the cat puke and canned food
* Mopped the dining room floor, due to my sweet 3 year old hurling his bowl of Fruity Cheerios across the room at breakfast
* Cleaned up a dirty 'diaper'....which wasn't in a diaper, it was in the 3 year old's underwear
* Had the 3 year old, who NEVER comes close to our cups of coffee, dump my cup of coffee down the front of himself
* Been late picking up the 4 year old from preschool because I followed a snow plow, at a whopping 18mph, the whole way to the school after Mother Nature, bless her &*&^%$% heart, decided to throw winter at us......in late February. Better late than never, huh?
* Kissed boo-boos on the 3 year old after he ran into the living room wall. There's something to be said for looking forward when you're walking forward.
* Kissed boo-boos on the same 3 year old when he slipped on the bathroom floor & did a nose dive
* Kissed boo-boos on that same, apparently accident-prone 3 year old when he walked into the open fridge door
Sigh. This was all before 11am. Now, that accident-prone 3 year old is napping and the 4 year old is playing couch potato.....and I'm inclined to leave him there today, for his own safety. ;) I'm headed to the laundry room to tackle the ever-growing Mt. Laundry. If you don't see me for a few days I've either made it to the top of that mountain, planted my flag, put my feet up and refused to come back down to reality.......or I'm buried under an avalanche of dirty, smelly clothes. Either way it would be quiet and calm......so leave me there!!

- Our's is a family of six. Not too big, not too small. Brady is our oldest at 15 years old. Ellie, our only daughter, is now 9 years old. Michael is 6.5 years old and Andrew, the baby of the family, is 5. Andrew holds a special place in our family, not only because he's the youngest member, but because he was born with Trisomy 21, otherwise known as Down Syndrome. One extra chromosome on the 21st pair. Down Syndrome is the most common genetic anomally, occuring in 1 out of every 500 or so births each year. Unfortunately, due to society's misunderstood notions of Down Syndrome, many women abort their babies when given even a speculative prenatal diagnosis. Hopefully, this blog will help people understand that a diagnosis of Down Syndrome is not the end of the world...it's the beginning of a new, better world.

I wish the world could see you as I see you
Wish they knew the joys you've brought to me
So many people quick to judge us
and see you as someone who shouldn't be

if there is some race that we must finish first
Why do we deny ourselves it all when we drown so that we may quench our thirst
You taught me to stop and smell the tulips
they are different than the roses, this is true,
their scent is in my every pore now
I never would have known them without you
To all the many people who would not choose you
who think your life is somehow tragedy
I say you have outlived them and outloved them
I am grateful God chose you just for me
