Last Day Of Pre-school

Andrew's last day of pre-school was Wednesday. He had only been attending for just over 3 months but seemed to have made a huge impact on the staff and students alike.

I recall one particular afternoon, just recently, when I brought Andrew to class. We were walking up the sidewalk toward the school. As we got closer to the big windows of the classroom one of the little boys, a five year old, spotted us. I saw him point excitedly at us and say "Andrew's here!". Within a few short seconds the whole class had run to the window to see my son coming up the walk. It was a mass of big cheesy grins and happily waving hands as they welcomed my little man to another afternoon of class with them. I nearly broke down in tears. These are kids who are 1, 2 and some even 3 years older than Andrew. And they not only accept him as one of their own, they adore him.

It's sad that the school year has ended already. Even sadder that this is most likely the very last time Andrew will see those kids and his favorite teachers. He has become very close to his Para and it breaks my heart to know that he won't be attending school with her again next year. I know it breaks her heart too. The tears in her eyes on Andrew's very last day with her told it all.
