Some for him, none for me

I've had a painful sinus headache for 4 days now. The kind where it feels like knives in the right side of my face every time I bend down or even turn my head to the side too fast. It hasn't been pleasant. I called the Dr last Tuesday to make the appointment for Andrew's Pre-Op Physical and decided to make an appointment for that same day for myself and Andrew, as he's had a runny nose for over 3 weeks now.

Doc checked me over and, since I have only the headache, no congestion, no runny nose, no glowing-green mucous, he can't deem it a sinus infection. So, I was left to fend for myself with a suggestion of Sudafed and Doc's well-wishes. I'm to call him back if nothing changes by Friday.

On to Mr. Andrew. He's had a pesky runny nose since the beginning of August. Doc asks all the basic questions:

Clear mucous or whitish/yellow/green? Clear

Any fever? Nope.

Coughing? Only from drainage.

Anything that would indicate this is bacterial? Nope.

Hmmmmmm....

Since Andrew is having surgery on the 13th of September we need to get him healthy and keep him that way until that date. The anethesiologists tend to frown upon the idea of putting a sick child under. I do, too. So, even though we don't think it's bacterial, Andrew walked out of the Dr.'s office with a script for Amoxicillin. And the instructions to call back if he's not better when the script is up. Can you join me in crossing your fingers that the little guy is happy & healthy by the 13th?
