Darth Vadar's Younger Brother?

Don't these two look alike?

No? Oh. Well, they sure sound alike right now! Yes, you guessed it, we've been nailed with Croup again. The lucky winner is Andrew. Each of the kids has had their run in with Croup in toddlerhood; this is Andrew's 2nd go at it. I would've thought that once was enough, but we all know how Andrew likes to show off!

Actually, Michael started it all off with a run-of-the-mill cold about 3 days ago. And, not to be outdone by his older brother, Andrew decided he should join in the fun. While Michael stayed on the sidelines with the everyday, average cold Andrew thought he should take it to a new level, as he likes to do so well.

Within 45 minutes of going to sleep last night Andrew woke up 5 times, coughing & crying. He finally settles in to a nice sleep around 10pm. At 1:30am he woke again. Same story; coughing, crying. I put him in bed with me & snuggled in, hoping for a nice snooze with my youngest child. Boy, was I wrong!

A few minutes later Andrew was wheezing & working a bit too hard to breath. We decided then to hang out in the steamy bathroom for a while. Yeah, I know people pay good money to join a gym and use a steam room.....but it's really not all it's cracked up to be! Especially at 2am!! The steam seemed to help for a while, but by 5am he was wheezing again and we were right back to the 'steam room' for another round. He slept well after that, until 7:30am.

I brought him to the Dr. this morning, in hopes of getting some meds for his nebulizer. He wasn't really wheezing then, but had a nice Darth Vadar-ish sound to him. His oxygen level was at 94%....not bad, but it certainly could've been better. We got the script he needed and came home to administer his first neb treatment. Andrew thought it was great fun to have that plastic tube shoved in front of his face for 15 minutes. He even danced to the droning sound of the neb as it did its work. And I was worried that he'd be scared of the whole process! Silly mommy!

The Dr. did warn me that tonight may very well be worse than last night. This is not something I really wanted to hear, although I knew it anyway. In all honesty, looking back now, I should've taken Andrew to the ER last night, given the symptoms he was exhibiting. Yeah, hindsight is 20/20.....and we made out all right staying home anyhow. But, if tonight is suppose to be worse I'm kinda up a creek. See, both my parents are busy....Randy is, at best, 3 hours drive away....and there's really noone else that I can call to come watch the other 3 kiddos if we have to take a middle of the night trek to the ER.

So, if I have any typos in this entry it's because I'm typing with my fingers crossed.....crossed that we can stay in our nice, warm, cozy house tonight, instead of road-tripping to the ER.
