Headline Reads:

"Middle aged mother of 4 asked out on date."
I just recieved a date invitation from my husband. I had mentioned to him, a few days ago, that it would be nice to meet for coffee every once in a while on a day that all 4 kids are in school. Or maybe, after I got the kids off to bed at night, we could entrust Brady to hold down the fort while we stole away to the nearest Perkins for one of their oh-so-yummy Chocolate Chipper Sundaes. Just a snippet of time, away from home, to be husband and wife and not always Mom and Dad. I thought it was a very founded request but, as with most ideas when it comes to men, it didn't seem to get past the starting gate. Or atleast that's what I thought.
He called this morning and said he had an idea for me. He said that we should go on a date. (Hmmmm....sound familiar??) HIS date would include a snowmobile ride through the surrounding countryside, ultimately ending up at a local restaurant on the lake for lunch.
Now, it's not that I'm opposed to this idea, but......I hate winter! I'm no longer an 'outdoor person' when the temperature dips below 60 degrees. I prefer the warmth of the indoors, hence my suggestion for coffee or a nice dessert. You know.....something more climate controlled. And why is it that my coffee/dessert idea never got past the word 'go' but 3 days later he's all gung-ho about a frigid-wind-in-your-face-eyes-watering-nose-running snowmobile date?
Sigh. Men. Whatcha gonna do? You plant a seed, hope for roses, and end up with carnations. Well, a flower is a flower is a flower, I suppose. Now, does anyone know where I can get those little packets of hand/feet warmers?
